The Western League Management Committee would like to congratulate all the teams which represented the Western Region in the 2010 finals. It was a fantastic day and a privilege to sit on the balcony and watch some outstanding swimming. The B final-what can you say about a competition which goes right down to the final line. Congratulations to City of Cardiff and all the swimmers on their success. Congratulations also go to the swimmers who received Age Group awards. Exeter City Swimming Club also represented the Region securing 5th place. There were also some fantastic individual results, and both Clubs obtained some superb results in the team events. It was good to see Liam Tancock representing Exeter and Thomas Haffield representing City of Cardiff, along with a number of Olympic swimmers from other Regions. The Region was represented by three clubs in the Cup final. What a day to remember, all three clubs swum fantastically, and provided an opportunity to watch some of the best young swimmers who will represent this country in years to come. Plymouth Leander Swimming Club was in overall control from the start and taking 23 first places from the 50 events. The final was a little different to the B Final where Plymouth was in total control with an 86 point difference between 1st and 2nd place Stockport Metro. Millfield was 3rd and Bournemouth took 8th place. Congratulations must also go to swimmers who collected individual Age Group awards, with all the awards presented to swimmers representing Plymouth Leander and Millfield. There were also a number of Olympians taking part for other regions. What a prospect we have to see what comes from this coming year’s galas and what will come from next year’s finals. Undoubtedly, exciting times are ahead. Adrian Edwards Chair National Arena Swimming League Western |
