Bicester Bluefins - Round Two 2014

Bicester Blue Fins returned to Worcester for the second round gala in this year’s National Arena League Premier Division. Having won the first gala last month, the Bicester Village sponsored squad of 26 swimmers from age 10 to adult was pitted against the current league champions from Boldmere, as well as stiff opposition from the home Worcester team, Stourbridge, Long Eaton and Cannock.

Worcester Swimming Club - Round Two 2014

Worcester Swimming Club continued its excellent 2014 by securing a place in the West Midlands Final of the National Swimming League, sponsored by Arena.

This is the most prestigious Club competition of the year and competing in the Premier Division, the standard of swimming is exceptionally high… with the successful Worcester team now looking forward to a Final at which they will compete against the best of the best… including for City of Derby, double Commonwealth and European champion on 100m Breaststroke, Adam Peaty!

Round 2 saw Worcester renew its rivalry with Bicester (Round 1 winners, 6 points ahead of the Home club) plus 2013 League Champions, Boldmere, who proved worthy runaway winners on the night.

Wyre Forest - Round Two 2014

Wyre Forest travelled to Leamington Spa on Saturday evening, team spirit was on a high once again and the swimmers performances reflected this.  Wyre forest finished second (212 points) to Blythe Barracudas (227 points), thus securing a place in the final in December with a place in Division 1 up for grabs.

First places went to the girls in the 13/u medley and 13/u freestyle relay: Rosie Lane, Olivia Jay, Abbie Rowley and Georgia Lees, 13/u 100m freestyle and 13/u 100m butterfly: Abbie Rowley, 13/u 100m Backstroke: Rosie Lane and finally in the open 100m freestyle: Megan Tinsdale.

Winners for the boys were in 13/u butterfly and 13/u freestyle: Sam Osborne, open 200m individual medley: Calum Tinsdale, 13/u 100m backstroke: Ryan Larkin and finally in the open 100m freestyle: Jack Rowley.

Pershore Round Two 2014

Pershore Swimming Club took a big step towards promotion at the weekend and maintained their 100% record with an important win at Wombourne in Round 2 of the National Arena League (West Midlands Division Three).

Currently sitting at the top of the division, Pershore faced stiff opposition in Round 2 from other promotion-chasing clubs including Orion, Droitwich and Camp Hill who had also had good starts in the first round of the competition, and also faced teams from Burntwood and Warley.  However, unlike Round 1 where Pershore dominated from the start, this gala proved to be a much tougher test with a strong Orion team pushing every step of the way.

Dunstable - Round One 2014

The National Arena Swimming League is the UK's Premier Swimming League made up of seven regions involving the vast majority of competitive swimming clubs in the country. Dunstable have been absent from the competition for the past few years but decided to re-enter to assist in the clubs development.

Dunstable Swimming Club got their National Arena League season off to a great start with a fourth place position in their West Midlands Three East Gala at the superb Aylesbury Aqua Vale Swimming Pool on 11 October 2014.

Nuneaton & Bedworth - Round One 2014

Nuneaton and Bedworth Swimming Club was in action again on Saturday night where they just missed out on a third place finish in the National Arena League Gala at the Pingles in Nuneaton recording 6 first place wins, 9 second place wins, 10 third place wins and a total of 43 personal best times.

The gala saw the clubs 10 year-olds and upwards compete in individual events and team relays against swimmers from Halesowen, Chase, Leicester, City of Derby and Shrewsbury swimming clubs in the Premier Division of West Midlands region.
