Dunstable Round Three 2016

Dunstable Swimming Club got the 3rd and final leg of the National Arena League 2016 off to a great start with a magnificent 2nd place position in their West Midlands Three East Gala.  Held at the Bletchley Leisure Centre on 10th December 2016, DSC swimmers were on fantastic form throughout the gala. On completion of the 3 competitions, Dunstable SC have gained 2nd place overall in the league table which means a long awaited promotion to Division 2, 10 years in the making!!  DSC would like to thank all coaches, swimmers, parents and volunteers for this magnificent achievement. The club is as proud as it could possibly be, ending an epic year of swimming also winning Junior League earlier in the year – well done to everyone involved!
Competing against Flitwick Dolphins, Market Harborough SC, Rykneld SC and Braunstone B, DSC were against some very tough competition.  DSC did not disappoint, and the whole squad worked really hard all night with the relays in particular being tremendously exciting to spectate.

The atmosphere poolside was very much alive, and certainly the support from DSC parents did not disappoint!

The overall gala points at the end of these 3rd rounds were as follows;
1st place – Flitwick Dolphins –  606 gala points over the 3 gala’s in total.
2nd place – Dunstable –  576 gala points over the 3 gala’s in total.
3rd place – Market Harborough SC –  573 gala points over the 3 gala’s in total.
4th place – Braunstone B –  560 gala points over the 3 gala’s in total.
5th place – Rykneld SC –  482 gala points over the 3 gala’s in total.

DSC also celebrated some excellent new PB’s.  Swimmers of the gala went to the whole set of 11 yr old boys that won all their own individual races and all their relays these were; Ryan Roberts, Billy Mead, Finn Meenan, Elliot Kefford and William Hamm. Well done boys on some really terrific performances!

Two short course club records were also broken on Saturday.  This was for the boys 10 yrs 50m backstroke by Elliot Kefford in a time of 36.80 (previously his own record), and to Michael Judd in the men’s open 200IM in a time of 2.17.19 (previously his own record) – Congratulations to you both!

Thank you to all DSC swimmers that competed and did their best, for what is a high profile event.  Thank you also to the organisers and supporters that make this event so well organised with over 11,500 swimmers competing all across the country on the same night!

DSC would also like to give a huge thanks to the Woodside Clinic Dunstable, who very kindly sponsored the swimmers T-shirts.

DSC look forward to competing in the National Arena Swimming League in 2017, but this time entering Division 2! – Congratulations everyone!
