Fareham Nomads - Round One 2015

Fareham Nomads Swimming Club (FNSC) had a speedy start to the first round of the 2015 Arena League.

The Club competed against teams from Maxwell, Alton & District, Newbury, Littlehampton and newly promoted to Division 1 East, Chalfont Otters.  

For the first time ever in this league the team were sponsored by Metis Homes of Winchester.  Not only were the swimmers keen to improve on last years mid table position of 10th but were also very keen to impress their sponsor, Metis Homes.

South League AGM

Breaking News - The Arena League South AGM date has changed.  All May weekends are now taken up by either London or South East Regional Championships.  Our constitution states that the AGM has to be in either April or May so the new date is Sunday 19th April 2015.  The venue is the St John Ambulance Building, Stocton Close, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1HA.  The meeting will start at 10.30 am, coffee available from 10.00 am.

Fareham Nomads - Round Three 2014

A strong team of Fareham Nomads swimmers made a mighty comeback to place third in its final round of the Arena League.

The squad, ranging from nine to 28-years old, raced against Reading, Portsmouth, Epsom, Littlehampton and Mid Sussex Marlins at Aldershot Garrison swimming pool on Saturday 13 December.

At one stage Fareham Nomads Swimming Club moved down the points table to fifth but with only eight points separating all six clubs the team proved it had fighting spirit to crawl back up to third place.

Worthing - Round Two 2014

On Saturday 8th November 2014, Worthing Swimming Club attended the 2nd round of the National Arena Swimming League at Southampton’s 8 lane pool. As with round 1, we had a small team of 29 swimmers at this Gala, with an aim of achieving our seeding for the Gala of 3rd place, a tough challenge, with Chichester, Godalming and West Wight all having beaten us in last year’s competition.

Fareham Nomads - Round Two 2014

Fareham Nomads Swimming Club (FNSC) competed in the 2nd round of the 2014 Arena League competing against teams from Winchester, Maidenhead, Mid Sussex, Alton and City of Guildford C Team.  The club were hopeful of improving upon last year’s finish in which the club narrowly avoided relegation.

Mid Sussex Marlins - Round One 2014

Mid Sussex Marlins made their way over to Portsmouth for the 1st round of Arena League. It was some swimmers first experience of this level of team gala and everyone really pulled together and worked closely as a team. They put in a spirited challenge, finishing 5th with 155 points.

Although everyone swam their best – with plenty of PBs, some of the best performances included Dave Warren winning the Open 200IM, Ben Stevens (13) won both the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, Molly Firth (15) came 2nd in her 100m backstroke. In the Open ladies, Gina Hobson came 3rd in the 100m fly and Rachael Bowen 3rd in 100m freestyle. Rhiannon Evans (10) came 2nd in the 50m fly. Will Curry (15) was just beaten to 2nd place,twice, taking 3rd in the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle. Olivia Teague (10) swam a great 50m breaststroke with a very close finish for the top three – Olivia gaining 1st position. Guy Cooper in Mens open 100 freestyle grabbed 3rd position.

In the relays, we also had some top three placings, the girls 9/11 team came 2nd in both their races, boys 13/U freestyle relay came 1st, Girls 15/U and boys 15/U came 3rd in their freestyle relay race, Ladies Open team grabbed 2nd in the medley and 3rd in freestyle relay with mens open team taking 1st in the medley and a very exciting final freestyle relay race finshing 2nd!

Well done to all the team and a big thank you to the coaches and club officials. Also thanks to the parents supporting – makes for a great atmosphere….
