2016 Finals - Strong South Showing

The National Arena League South were delighted to have four of our Clubs in action at the National Final in Cardiff last weekend.

On Sunday in the A final we had Thanet and Guildford City.  It was one of the most exciting, nail biting and closest finals we’ve seen. Guildford City claimed victory over the mighty Plymouth Leander, breaking their long dominance of the event - winning by one point. Our huge congratulations to Guildford City for this feat and for bringing the trophy back to the South.  Thanet came a very credible 6th.  It was a fabulous afternoon of swimming, team spirit, cheering and spectator involvement.

At the B final on Saturday City of Oxford also found success by coming in 3rd with Wycombe District taking 6th.

The atmosphere on both days was electric, very noisy and colourful.  Well done to all the swimmers, coaches and parents for all the hard work.

The 2016/2017 season kicks off with the first round on 8th October 2016.

South League Round 3 - Woking Gala

The Premier Division gala 2 at Woking did not happen.

There was a power cut affecting the Pool In The Park.  Power was off in the town centre earlier and did not restore to the pool on time.  Even if power had been restored on time the emergency lighting would then need 8 hours to re-charge and the pool management informed us that very regrettably they would not be able to let us run the gala.

After consultation with the clubs involved it has been decided not to reschedule this gala.  The executive of the League has made the decision that the clubs involved will be given league points in line with the position they were in the table after round two.

Thank you to everyone for understanding and to Michael Holden and Woking for managing the situation.
