Teddington secure a superb second place in the opening round of the National Arena Swimming League

A squad of forty Teddington swimmers took part in the opening round of the National Arena Swimming League on Saturday 12th October. Teddington compete in the London Premier division and their first round draw was hosted by Hoddesdon Swimming Club at Basildon Sporting Village.

Teddington made an outstanding team effort to secure a superb second place behind Ealing Swimming Cub.  They were always going to face strong competition from Ealing who reached the National ‘B’ final last season.  After some edge of the seat races Ealing just managed to hold their lead. At the final count there were only eight points in it.  Ealing finished on 310 points and Teddington on 302. To their credit the strong Teddington team held off Camden Swiss who twice finished ahead of them last season.

London League Results

There will be a delay with the publishing of the London Round One 2013 results - this is due to some errors which can only be resolved by checking the full gala documentation. We will advise once this has been received.

2013 Update

A team eligibility form must be submitted to Kay Grimshaw by 1st October.

Each team is also required to submit the name of the swimmer for each event in each gala. This should be provided, before warm up, to the host club, on a memory stick. This system was introduced last season and was a great success, providing enhanced results. It is vital that this is continued this year as the galas in the premier division (former division one), and the galas in division one (former division two), are licensed. The names of the swimmers are required so that the times can go on to rankings.

The galas in the premier division(former division one)will be licensed level 2, except for the top gala in the last round and this will be licensed level 1. The galas in division one (former division two) will be licensed level 3.

With regard to officials:-

For the premier division – one J1 and one J2 is required. They must be qualified and licensed. The exception to this is for the top gala in the last round where there must be one J1 and two J2, all being qualified and licensed.

For division one - one J1 and one J2 is required. They must be qualified and preferably licensed.

For division two – one J1 and one J2 is required. They do not have to be licensed, but for the benefit of the swimmers, and in keeping with the high standard of the league competition, they must be qualified.

ALL teams should note that if the correct officials are not supplied, the galas cannot be run properly, and this is to the detriment of our swimmers. If the correct officials are not supplied in the premier division and division one galas, then the terms of the licensing are not being complied with, and all the swimmers at the gala will miss out, as their times will not go on to rankings!! Please do not deny this opportunity to ANY swimmer because YOUR club does not supply the correct officials.

London League - Update

Please note that division one has been re-named the Premier division. This is following the national decision, and there will be uniformity throughout the country for the top division in each league. In London league the second division will be named division one and the third division will be division two. This is only a name change and does not affect the size of the divisions etc.

Enfield Swim Squad B-Team Continues to Improve

Expectations were high as our team travelled to Borehamwood to compete in the 3rd round of the National Arena League at the Venue Pool. Seeded in only 6th place and competing in lane 7, coaches Rob and Gemma were confident that our swimmers could better their ranked position. The chilly conditions did not deter our team and spirits were high as the gala got off to a solid start in the 200IM and first round of relays, with a number of our teams' improving on their positions from the first two rounds.
