Camden Swiss swimmers pull together for great team performance in second round of National Arena Swimming League

Nail-biting finish sees Camden Swiss Cottage finish on same points as Ealing.

Camden Swiss Cottage swimmers produced an outstanding team performance to finish in a highly creditable joint second place out of 8 in an exciting second round of the National Arena Swimming League at Hatfield.  Camden fought incredibly hard to finish as joint runners up with Ealing behind winners teamipswich, amassing 301 points to the winning score of 318.

Raising their game to match the occasion, Camden swimmers achieved PBs in 20 out of the 34 individual races, with a further 80% of the team making a PB in their relay splits.

In the open age group, Adam Harrington finished first in the 200m individual medley while Olivia Willis powered home in the 100m backstroke to take maximum points. Allegra Schaer also looked impressive to finish victorious in the 100m breaststroke.

Isobel Moffatt swam a tough programme taking gold in the 15 and Under 100m backstroke while Anne Margaret Tavierne touched first in the 13 and Under 100m freestyle. Anna Podurgiel finished first in the 11 and under 50m breaststroke with Hugo Lowell came back hard to clinch victory in the 15 and under 100m breaststroke.

In the relays the girls 11 and under 4 x 50m medley team - Clementine Butler Brown, Anna Podurgiel, Ruby Coyle and Lauren Brantley - raced to victory, as did the girls 13 and under freestyle quartet of Anne Sophie Schmitt, Anne Margaret Tavierne, Anna Adetiba and Natalie Kaczmarczyk.

A special mention goes to Indigo Mathews who broke the magic minute mark for the first time in the 15 and under 100m freestyle, clocking 59.82 to finish second.

Other swimmers adding valuable points with second place finishes were Anna Podurgiel, Lauren Brantley, Anne Margaret Tavierne, Isobel Moffatt, Anne Sophie Schmitt, Bryce Puszet and Leo Jaggs.  

Runner up relays were the 11 and under 4 x 50m freestyle team, 13 and under 4 x 50m relay team, the ladies and mens open medley relay teams, girls 15 and under medley relay  and the ladies and mens open 6 x 50m freestyle teams, with our men just touched out by Ealing in a fingertip finish.
